Trade-Tech Labor Center 40th Anniversary

President and Business Manager Luther Medina was honored at the LA Trade Tech Labor Center’s 40th Anniversary Banquet. Luther is a graduate of the Labor Center’s Labor Studies and is an enthusiastic advocate of the program. Other honorees included California Labor Commissioner Julie Su and LA County Labor Fed President Rusty Hicks.
The banquet was also a celebration for the retirement of the Labor Center’s Director John R. McDowell. In 1978, John founded the Labor Center at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, now the largest community college Labor Studies program in the nation. For the past 40 years, John helped union activists, stewards, reps and officers strengthen their unions and build a more powerful labor movement.
