This week the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to develop a plan for a Countywide Construction Careers and Economic Development Initiative, and a Project Labor Agreement for all County capital and construction projects and economic and housing development projects on County-owned property.
The Board also directed County staff to “engage representatives of the various building trades on the terms for a possible Project Labor Agreement for major capital projects” including the Consolidated Correctional Treatment Facility, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Master Plan Project, King-Drew Reuse Project (Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus) and the Mira Loma Detention Center.
Representatives for SMART Local 105 joined with the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building & Construction Trades Council and the LA County Labor Federation, among others, to support these initiatives.
